Yin yoga is gentle, passive style of yoga with mostly floor-based postures. Different props are used to support your body in different shapes that are held for a few minutes each. This is a time to practice listening to the body, as we want to ease into each shape, pausing when we start to feel any sort of sensation.
As you hold in each posture and breathe your muscles will start to relax, allowing more access to the fascia/connective tissue. This is the anatomical role of yin yoga; to manipulate, lengthen, or compress the fascia, which enhances flexibility, circulation, mobility, and joint health.
The stillness and relaxing nature of yin yoga also invites calmness into the mind and energy, working to regulate the nervous system. Yin yoga offers the opportunity to listen to what’s arising in body and mind, and to let those energies dissipate as we drop into a meditative state.

I like to leave a couple of minutes grace in case you are running late. However, once class has started the door will be locked and late arrivals will not be let in. This is to maintain a calm and focused space for everyone in attendance. Please aim to arrive a few minutes early to settle in.

Yes! Together we will gently explore different postures and settle the body with conscious breaths and a meditative presence. As I guide you I will give you lots of space so you can meet the version of yourself that has joined you on the mat. If you are hesitant, anxious, nervous, unsure… please reach out to me. I am here to support you in any way that I can.
